What clears an AI screen in 2026

We asked operators and founders who pitch, and who screen inbound, a single question: in 2026, what gets an AI-assisted pitch through, and what gets it binned? The answer was close to unanimous. AI is fine for the scaffolding. It fails the moment it writes the voice.

This is the operator cut of our AI-written-pitches study, featuring practitioners who answered on the Connectively source-request board. A few of the lines that stuck:

AI writes the bones, you write the blood.

Runbo Li, CEO at Magic Hour AI

AI gets you to a draft. Edits get you to a reply. Specificity gets you to a citation.

Raj Baruah, Co-Founder at VoiceAIWrapper

AI can make a good pitch faster, but it makes a bad pitch louder.

Callum Gracie, Founder at Otto Media

The full report breaks down the tells screeners actually catch, the reply-rate economics operators reported (one hybrid workflow at 12 percent versus 3 percent for lightly edited AI), and what it costs when an AI-sounding draft slips through.
